OKDEMS on Republican Health Insurance Premium Hikes
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - In just one month, health insurance premiums for over 300,000 Oklahomans will skyrocket due to Republican inaction (Where is our all-Republican delegation?) on extending the ACA's enhanced Premium Tax Credits before the January 1st expiration date.
To make it worse, this is on top of nearly 300,000 Oklahomans who will lose their Medicaid/SoonerCare coverage because of Trump’s Big Ugly Bill. Now, working families will soon come face to face with a health care affordability crisis that could force them to make harrowing decisions, including forgoing insurance altogether.
"The government shutdown was a fight over healthcare policy. Democrats have taken a stand on lowering health insurance costs. It is time for Republicans to honor their pledge, and schedule a vote on these lifesaving tax credits," said Rep. John Waldron, Chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, Trump is more focused on building gilded ballrooms and enriching his club of billionaire buddies and foreign friends, than he is on lowering costs for Oklahoma families.
We believe that health care is a right, not a privilege reserved for the ultra-rich - and we know Oklahomans will not stand to be cheated out of it so Trump and Republicans can rig the system for the top 1%.
Oklahoma Democrats are committed to fighting for a fair deal, ensuring Oklahoma families receive the lifesaving healthcare they need.
