OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Following the close of the 2026 candidate filing period, the Oklahoma Democratic Party is announcing that 158 Democrats have officially filed to run across the state, representing the party’s largest filing class in six years. This milestone points to growing momentum across Oklahoma as more candidates step forward with a focus on the issues that matter most to Oklahoma voters.
The Oklahoma Democratic Party led the charge in candidate recruitment this cycle. The result of these investments and efforts is the most energized, ready to run slate of candidates in the last decade. Many of those filing are first-time candidates, aiming to grow the Democratic Party across the state, giving voters an option on the ballot.
This year’s slate of candidates reflects communities across the state, with candidates running races in rural, suburban, and urban areas alike. Together, they are focused on the issues Oklahomans are feeling every day: rising costs, struggling public schools, and a healthcare system that is too often out of reach for working Oklahomans.
“Oklahomans are ready for strong, new leadership. There’s a reason more than 100 Democrats have stepped up to run this year - it’s a sign of growing demand from voters that we address the real problems Oklahomans face,” said Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Erin Brewer.
This record candidate recruitment effort is part of a long-term strategy to rebuild Democratic support across the state. With the most candidates filing in six years, the Oklahoma Democratic Party is not just expanding the slate, it is building a broader, more competitive map.
