PRESS RELEASE

Press Conference: OKDEMS Call on Danny Williams to Drop Out

Oklahoma Democratic Party to Call on Danny Williams to End Re-Election Campaign

SEMINOLE, OK — The Oklahoma Democratic Party will hold a press conference calling on State Representative Danny Williams to immediately withdraw his name from the November ballot and end his re-election campaign.

A candidate may withdraw from the General Election by filing a written notice before 5:00 p.m. on the Friday following the Runoff Primary Election – Friday, August 28, 2026. (See 26 O.S. § 5-116.1)

The press conference will be held Monday, August 24th 10:00 a.m. at the Seminole Public Library and is open to the public. Oklahomans who believe Danny Williams should resign and end his campaign are encouraged to attend and make their voices heard.

The Oklahoma Democratic Party will use the press conference to publicly call on Williams to take responsibility and step away from the race rather than continue seeking another term in office.

“The people of Oklahoma deserve elected officials who are accountable to the public and willing to take responsibility for their actions,” said Oklahoma Democratic Party Executive Director, Lauren Craig. “We are calling on Danny Williams to file the paperwork to take his name off the November ballot on August 26th at the State Election Board and end his re-election campaign immediately. This is about accountability and the trust voters place in their elected representatives.”

Following the press conference, the Oklahoma Democratic Party will host a community town hall, providing residents an opportunity to share their concerns, ask questions, and discuss the issues facing their community and state.

The press conference will be followed by a community town hall at Seminole Community College. For more information, please visit okdemocrats.org
