Oklahoma Democrats Announce Over 100 Candidates Intend to File
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Oklahoma Democratic Party is preparing for more than 100 Democratic candidates to file for office starting tomorrow - the most since 2018. This strong increase in Democratic performance in recruiting candidates reflects the growing energy among Oklahomans who are ready to move Oklahoma in a new direction.
From the US Senate to the State House, this new class of Democratic candidates represents communities across Oklahoma and brings a shared commitment to tackling the challenges facing working families every day. With skyrocketing housing and grocery costs, struggling public schools, and healthcare out of reach for thousands of Oklahomans, Democratic candidates are stepping forward with a laser-focus on delivering common-sense solutions that make real change in our communities.
“Oklahomans are ready for strong, new leadership. There’s a reason more than 100 Democrats have stepped up to run this year - it’s a sign of growing demand from voters that we address the real problems Oklahomans face,” said Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Erin Brewer. "Our candidates are focused on lowering costs, strengthening public schools, and expanding access to quality healthcare."
The scale of this week’s filings underscores a broader shift in momentum, as more Oklahomans are engaging in our political process and supporting candidates who are focused on creating real change - not just settling for more of the same. With a strong slate of candidates and a clear message centered on affordability, strong schools, and accessible healthcare, Oklahoma Democrats are building a foundation for a competitive 2026 election cycle.
