OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – In light of today’s announcement of the “serious allegations” of “improper behavior” by Republican State Representative Danny Williams, Oklahoma Democrats are calling for him to withdraw his candidacy for re-election.
“Since Republican leaders feel strongly enough to deny Representative Williams access to his physical office at the State Capitol, it’s clear that he should no longer hold elected office. Mr. Williams should immediately step down,” said Erin Brewer, chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party.
Democrat Blake Cummings, of Pottawatomie County, is a Native American who spent his career in oil and gas and telecommunications. In his campaign for House District 28, Cummings is focused on improving public education and healthcare, working together to solve real problems, and reducing costs. He stands ready to fill this seat and serve the district with integrity.
“Today, Oklahoma Democrats launched a public petition calling on Mr. Williams to resign and end his re-election campaign. Residents of House District 28 have a strong, trust-worthy leader who represents their values in Democratic candidate Blake Cummings,” said Brewer.
The resignation petition can be found at okdems.org/resign.
