STOP SB 484!

OKLAHOMANS TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER. SB 484 wants to take that away!

🚨 URGENT: CALL NOW TO STOP SB 484 🚨

The Senate Local & County Government Committee Votes TOMORROW FEB. 25th at 2:30 PM!

SB 484 is government overreach at its worst—stripping local governments of their ability to care for their communities and forcing families, children, and veterans into unsafe conditions. This bill makes homelessness worse, drives up costs for taxpayers, and tears families apart.

WHAT’S WRONG WITH SB 484?

🔴 This bill takes away local control. It strips cities and towns of their ability to help homeless people in their own communities.

🔴 It forces children out of their schools. Families experiencing homelessness will be pushed into Tulsa or OKC, tearing kids away from their friends, teachers, and stability.

🔴 It will lead to more unsheltered homelessness. Shelters are already at capacity. Limiting where shelters can be built forces people into unsafe conditions instead of providing solutions.

🔴 It punishes rural Oklahoma. Small towns know how to take care of their own, but SB 484 prevents local leaders from addressing local needs.

🔴 It violates religious freedom. Many churches operate shelters as part of their faith mission—this bill would ban many of them from offering help.

Oklahomans Deserve Local Control—Not a State-Mandated Crisis

SB 484 takes away decision-making power from local governments and forces a one-size-fits-all solution that doesn’t work for rural Oklahoma. Towns and cities should have the right to decide how to care for their own people—not politicians in Oklahoma City.

This bill makes homelessness worse, drives up costs for taxpayers, and tears families apart.

Instead of offering real solutions, SB 484 makes it harder for communities to care for their neighbors, churches to provide shelter, and families to stay together. If passed, this bill will:

✅ Rip children from their schools and force families to relocate far from jobs, friends, and support systems.

✅ Increase homelessness by restricting where shelters can operate.

✅ Punish rural communities by banning them from establishing local shelters.

✅ Push more people into unsafe conditions, leading to higher costs for hospitals, emergency services, and law enforcement.

✅ Violate religious freedom by restricting churches from offering shelter service

This bill will harm families, force children out of their schools, and punish local communities for trying to help their own. Oklahoma should protect local control, not pass one-size-fits-all mandates. Please vote NO on SB 484."
