"Senate President Pro Tem Glenn
Coffee's bill to create a new office of Accountability (SB646) should
show the people of Oklahoma how out of touch Coffee is with
Oklah.omans views," stated Ivan Holmes, State Democratic Party Chair.
"Republicans say they are for less
government and spending and yet the Republican Senate Pro Tem
sponsors a bill that will add another government office and increase
spending," Holmes said.
"For an individual who did not pay
his taxes I guess he expects those of us who pay our taxes to foot
the bill for another government agency," Holmes said.
"There is no question that our
current Auditor and Inspectors Office can perform audits without
farming out performance audits to outside auditors," Holmes
continued.
"At
a time when Oklahomans are working to make ends meet, Senator Coffee
is wanting to create more bureaucracy and spending more tax dollars.
Of course considering that he rarely pays his taxes, he is probably
not too worried about spending."
"It would be one thing if our
current auditor and his staff were not qualified to do their job. I
don't see why we should ask the taxpayers to pay more for services in
order to outsource jobs to private companies," Holmes said.
