Representative Hansen Clarke (D-MI)

Representative Hansen Clarke (D-MI) recently introduced a resolution that asks to cut all of the student loan debt held by Americans. He suggests that the true culprit for our economic state is the personal burdens of debt that individuals hold. You can see others who are trying to spread the word about this idea to jump-start the economy.

Here is a video of the representative talking about the personal debt crisis that the U.S. is facing.

I know that my Student Loan debt is half of everything I owe. I have paid on my loans for 16 years, yet I still owe. I have resigned myself to dying with this debt. And what bothers me the most about this? The fact that 20 yr olds with high school educations are making as much as I am. My college degree from a fine respected school has not helped me make a living. Here in Oklahoma they want to pay me $8 an hour and they feel they can specify professional dress. That hourly wage will never retire my debt! I need help!!!

Originally my student loan was only $4,000. now its doubled up to $8,000. plus. I can't afford to pay anything on my student loan after I pay all my other bills. Maybe if I didn't need to eat or buy gas for my car, then I could pay something. but with the price of gas going up and the price of food going up, I can't afford anything more. I don't qualify for any type of loans due to my student loan in default. help!!!!!
