Rep. Sally Kern Says Women & Minorities Don’t Work as Hard as White Men
From the Oklahoma State House of Represenatives Floor tonight while debating SJR15:
“We have a high percentage of blacks in prison, and that’s tragic, but are they in prison just because they are black or because they don’t want to study as hard in school? I taught school for 20 years, and I saw a lot of people of color who didn’t want to work as hard” Rep. Kern said. “They wanted it given to them.”
“Women don’t want to work as hard as a man,” Rep. Kern said.
Oklahoma Democratic Party Chairman Todd Goodman’s Statement in Response:
“Rep. Sally Kern’s comments on the House Floor this evening in regards to SJR15 show discrimination is far from dead and affirmative action is still necessary in our great state. It saddens and angers me that the women and minorities of Oklahoma are represented by such bigotry and outright ignorance. This rhetoric will drive new businesses and new jobs from our state. All no votes on this bill will stand on the right side of history.”
