Oklahoma Democratic Party Chairman’s Statement on Tax Compromise

Wednesday, President Obama announced he had worked with Republicans to quickly come to a compromise on taxes and unemployment benefits.

Here is a statement from Todd Goodman, Chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, on the matter:

“While the tax compromise is not perfect, it does promise to protect the middle class. With a Republican caucus who held the middle class tax cuts and unemployment benefits hostage and promised to obstruct any piece of Democratic legislation, President Obama did what was necessary to protect those who are unemployed and the middle class. Republicans have once again shown who they represent--the wealthiest 2 percent of the nation, and President Obama has once again shown he is determined in protecting working families who have been hit hardest by the recession. The American public asked for bipartisanship and compromise in November, and President Obama is showing the people he heard their calls.”

Greatly disappointed! Someone need to teach our president how to negotiate. Once again showing his hand before he got anything. You are never going to get any consessions from the Republicans until they loose something. I was a HUGH supporter of the president in the last election and did everything I could for Demrocrates in Oklahoma. Think I change back to Independent.
