Hypocrisy Alert: Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Todd Goodman Calls on Lankford to Forgo “Gov’t Health Care” he Campaigned Against
“In Congress I will aggressively work to stop the funding to implement the new health care law. Then, I will work with a coalition of conservative House members to pass a free market based health care reform that will be consistent with our national values and Constitutional authority. The health care law was bad medicine from the beginning. It must be stopped and replaced.” -James Lankford
For months on the campaign trail, Republicans like Rep. James Lankford railed against health reform that would ensure Americans get the same insurance as members of Congress. Today, however, it is a much different story. Now, after all the hype and red-meat rhetoric for the base, Rep. Lankford will be eagerly accepting the same type of quality health care they want to deny to their constituents and the American people.
Oklahoma Democratic Party Chair Todd Goodman released the following statement highlighting the Republicans’ blatant hypocrisy and calling on Rep. Lankford to forgo the health insurance issued through the U.S. House of Representatives – the same type of quality care he wants to deny the American people.
“In the months leading up to the election, we heard nothing but fear and demagoguery coming from Republicans like James Lankford about health care reform and the desire to offer the American people the type of quality and affordable health insurance enjoyed my Members of Congress. Now, in a move of unparalleled hypocrisy, Republicans like Rep. Lankford are about to accept the very thing they railed against to help get them elected. The question is – will Rep. Lankford reject his federal health insurance plans or will he shamefully show he is a hypocrite who believes he deserves better health insurance than the people of Oklahoma?”
