Nearly four decades ago, the first Earth Day marked the birth of a new national environmental consciousness paving the way for landmark policies that protect public health and preserve our environment for future generations.
The Democratic Party has long believed that it is our responsibility to safeguard our natural resources and protect public health. But these days environmental stewardship is as much about blazing our new energy future and rebuilding our economy as it is about clean air and water.
The stakes now are higher than ever - especially in Oklahoma, where we have always been a leader in energy, and where we have incredible natural resources to shape the nation's energy future.
Oklahomans understand the direct connection between repairing our economy and making investments in renewable energy sources that are healthier for our planet. We are poised to lead the way in clean and renewable energy sources, such as wind and biofuels from switchgrass and animal products.
To keep our state’s economy healthy, we must take bold action to harness the growing opportunities in new energy alternatives and green industries.
With the Obama administration's commitment to our economy and our environment, Oklahoma will quickly benefit from thousands of green jobs created in our state alone.
Working together, we can break our dependence on foreign oil, reduce deadly pollution, and finally tackle global warming and its potentially catastrophic effects.
Help the Democratic Party move us toward a new energy future!
