More than 100 guests attended a recent Garvin County Democrats Candidate Forum
The Garvin County Democratic Party held an event for Democratic and judicial candidates earlier this month in Pauls Valley. Democratic candidates (with or without primary opponents) were provided an opportunity to give short stump speeches in front of an enthusiastic Garvin County crowd.

Marilyn Goodban, Garvin County Chair, counted 14 candidates and six surrogates, with more than 100 guests attending. Candidates included Lt. Governor Jari Askins, Commissioner of Labor Lloyd Fields, Stephen Covert, candidate for State Treasurer, Jerry Combrink, candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction, Donna Spring and Darryl Roberts, candidates for State Senator District 14 and Mark Myles, candidate for US Senate.

This was the first chance most guests had to meet Myles, with many saying they were impressed with his dynamic speaking abilities and enthusiasm for the Democratic party. Myles said he hopes to challenge a republican opponent in November for his Senate seat.

The Garvin County Democratic Party will meet July 31st at the Santa Fe Depot Museum in Pauls Valley at 10 am to make plans for supporting party nominees for the November general election. They are also co-hosting the Garvin County Bi-Partisan Forum on September 25th at 6 pm at the Pauls Valley High School auditorium. In the past, this event has brought a huge turnout of candidates and voters.
