Fallin Embarrasses Oklahoma Again

Mary Fallin has embarrassed her constituents yet again by being featured as Keith Olbermann’s Worst Person in the World last night. This is the third time since May the Congresswoman has garnered negative national media attention. This time, she was given the title in response to her refusing to speak at a nonpartisan event until several Democrats were removed from the audience.

Her ability to bring negative attention to Oklahoma is only one of the many reasons Fallin is wrong to lead our state. From day one of this campaign, Fallin has been focused entirely on Washington D.C. issues and Washington D.C. politics. Some of her biggest supporters have been the D.C. interests, which have poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into advertisements that attempt to falsely smear her opponent, Lt. Governor Jari Askins.

The Washington-based Republican Governor’s Association has been running numerous misleading attack ads against Jari Askins. These ads seem to be counterproductive for Fallin’s campaign. According to News on 6, the ads misrepresent Askins’ record. Conservative commentators have expressed concern of a possible backlash as well, saying Oklahomans are not receptive to negative political advertising, and these attacks ignore that trend.

Todd Goodman, Chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, said this is another example of Fallin’s disconnect between D.C. and Oklahoma.

“We are hiring the new CEO for the state of Oklahoma in November,” Goodman said. “Jari Askins’ concern has always been and will always be the state of Oklahoma and Oklahoma’s needs. Fallin seems more concerned with representing special interests of Washington and only those who already agree with her.

“Despite her attempts to distance herself from the RGA’s ads, Fallin’s very Washington connections and relationships make that claim laughable. Fallin is in bed with these Washington insiders and again making decisions the Washington way, not the Oklahoma way.”

I agree with the above. The Fallin ads try to picture Jari Askins in the worst possible light as well as using the most unflattering pictures of her. I hope no one believes her.
Jari Askins will do much more for our state. And she won't be sneaky, either.

Bottom line. Much better than Fallin, Jari Askins is not a real strong canidate. She has to run so much in the middle that their platforms doesn't seem much different. She should stand up and support the health care act her fellow democrats worked for and historically passed, and reject the state lawsuit against it as threatend by some.

Mary Fallin is not the person the state of oklahoma need. I totally agree with the article. She seems to only be focused on the politics in Washington, not Oklahoma. Her TV ads doesn't really say much. They are shallow. I will pray that she is not elected Governor in November.
