Oklahoma Democratic Party Chairman’s Statement on Tax Bill Passage
Thursday night, the House passed the Tax Bill, and it is now ready for President Obama to sign. Here is a statement from Todd Goodman, Chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party, on the matter:
“Today is a good day for the middle class. President Obama showed his ability to work in a bipartisan manner and broker a deal with both sides. This is especially impressive considering just days before the President met with Republicans to discuss a compromise, Republicans had vowed to block all Democratic legislation. The House worked tirelessly last night to pass the bill, and now it is on the President’s desk. This is good news to those who have been hit worst by the economic recession. The unemployed can rest a little easier this holiday season knowing their unemployment benefits will not expire, and the middle class will be helped with these tax cuts. The tax cuts for the middle class and unemployment benefits included in this bill are proven stimulative measures in our fragile economic recovery. I applaud both Congress and especially President Obama for coming to a consensus and getting this bill past swiftly in order to promise many Americans a more secure future and holiday season.”
